Making a difFerence

Reduce- reuse - recycle

Kenya, where I write these words, is a country of unmatched beauty and wonder. It’s a place where one day you can gaze out over the vast Savannah, witnessing the raw majesty of a lion stalking its prey across the plains. The very next day, you can lose yourself in the soothing sound of gentle waves, gazing out at the tranquil ocean horizon.

When I first arrived here in 2013, I admit, I was apprehensive. The media’s portrayal of Africa and my work in the security sector made me wary. But my fears dissolved quickly—within weeks, I realized how wrong I had been.

On the very first day, a local Kenyan man greeted us with the warmest smile, lifting our daughter in his arms, his face beaming with joy. He spun her around, singing a heartfelt welcome song. It was a moment of pure human connection that I’ll never forget.

Over the years, I’ve come to admire the incredible skills and talents of the people here. The creativity, craftsmanship, and spirit of the Kenyan people are awe-inspiring, and I feel deeply compelled to help share their gifts with the world.

This is where I ask for your help. There are countless artisans here whose work deserves to be seen by a wider audience. If you have any ideas for new designs—whether it’s bags, glasses, or other items—please share them with me. Your input could help create opportunities for talented artisans, many of whom live in conditions of extreme poverty.

Right now, we’re limited to showcasing their goods at trade fairs and shows in the UK during the summer. But with your support, we can expand these efforts, helping provide a sustainable future for these skilled individuals and their families.

I humbly ask for your donations to help make this dream a reality. Together, we can create change and make a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

So Kenya is where I am writing these words.  I say indeed what a magical and beautiful country it is.

One day you can gaze across the Savannah, watching a lion creep slowing through the plains getting closer and closer to its prey.  The next, you can be in sheer bliss with the sound of the gentle waves, whilst staring out across the ocean.     Read More
